LPG Safety Guidelines
Safety is a top priority for Indian Oil's Indane Gas. Proper handling and usage of LPG ensure safe and efficient cooking for every household. Please follow these important safety tips:
1. Cylinder Safety
- Always keep the LPG cylinder in an upright position.
- Store the cylinder in a well-ventilated area, away from direct sunlight and heat sources.
- Never place the cylinder in a closed cabinet or below ground level.
2. Regulator and Hose
- Use only ISI-marked regulators and approved rubber hoses.
- Check the rubber hose regularly and replace it once a year or if cracks are visible.
- Ensure the regulator is firmly fixed and locked properly on the cylinder valve.
3. Stove Usage
- Always light the matchstick or lighter first, then turn on the gas stove.
- Keep the stove on a flat, stable surface.
- Do not leave cooking unattended, especially when children are nearby.
4. Leak Detection
- If you smell gas, do not panic.
- Do not operate electrical switches or appliances.
- Immediately turn off the regulator, open doors and windows for ventilation, and move the cylinder to an open area if safe to do so.
- Never use a flame to check for gas leaks.
5. Ventilation
- Ensure the kitchen is well-ventilated with windows or exhaust fans.
- Proper airflow helps prevent gas accumulation and improves safety.
6. During Cylinder Replacement
- Check the safety seal before accepting the cylinder.
- Test for leaks using soap solution after installation.
- Accept cylinders only from authorized Indane distributors.
7. Children and Elderly Safety
- Keep children away from the cooking area.
- Elderly users should be assisted while handling the regulator or cylinder.
8. Fire Safety
- Keep flammable materials like cloth, paper, and plastic away from the stove.
- In case of fire, switch off the regulator if safe and use a fire blanket or extinguisher.
- Never pour water on an LPG fire.
